World Pies is here and off to a great, and tasty I might add, start. My husband and I were one of the lucky few that were able to get a sneak peak at the delicious food World Pies is serving up. This week they have been having a "Soft Open" by inviting friends and family in to test out the menu as well as work on the restaurant’s operations. I thought the evening was lovely. While you could tell that people were still getting the hang of a new restaurant, I couldn’t find any flaws in the service. Our server was a bit on the shy side, but she was knowledgeable, attentive, accurate and made sure that all here tables were well taken care of.

What I really loved about the evening though was in addition to the food which was great, was that without even trying to plan it, we ran into six of our friends.  To me one of the whole points of a neighborhood restaurant is be able to do exactly that. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing and after a busy day - it was really nice to sit down to a nice meal and an impromptu gathering with friends.

Their menu is pretty solid with a nice selection of pizzas and salads. I had a wonderful pizza that had all sorts of delicious meats and cheeses. My husband had one that had some amazing pesto sauce and we both really enjoyed the flat bread and hummus. All at our table agreed - the crust is perfect! Apparently it is reminiscent of New Haven style pizza, which I must admit, I have never had the pleasure of trying, but I draw upon visions of "Mystic Pizza" for a point of reference. The Caesar salad tasted great; not overly dressed and not too fishy. The wine was nice although I would like to see them expand their selection by a few.

All in all - it was a wonderful ending to a busy day and I look forward to going back once they officially open.

Thank you World Pies and Welcome!

Ok, this is the best pizza we have every had! We ordered the flat bread with the Roma sauce, very delicious. My wife had the Empire Diet Coke and thought it was better than Coke products. I had a Beer from Thailand.

Then the pizza…we ordered the Italiano Supremo and then waited about 20 minutes (very busy and there was a large group that oderderd 12+ pizzas)…The pizza came out and it was the pesto pizza (the wrong one)…the waitress went back and a few minutes later came back and said that there was a mistake and we can have the pesto for free and the Supremo would be coming out soon.

About 5 minutes later the Chef came out and apologized and said he would comp the whole dinner, which was not necessary or expected, but we appreciated it! We then walked to the expresso counter and order coffee to go, which is excellent, we are so excited to have businesses within walking distance and we believe that Nine/World Pies is going to be a huge success!

    Thanks for a great evening.

I think the pizza here is great for the Eastside, let alone Issaquah! If patrons want to try other places, I suggest Serious Pie in Seattle…as good!

Does World Pies have a website? It would be nice to be able to see the menu online for carryout ordering purposes.

No website available as of yet. Matt…if your reading this I agree that it might be a good idea.

FYI - ate there again this weekend with family that was in from out of town and the pizza was amazing - as usual! :) Our family member is a real foodie too and he loved it. We tried the falafel pizza this time. Once again - job well done.

I was really surprised how good it was. I have had two different kinds and both were top notch. Serious Pie in Seattle is a favorite of mine but now I can walk a couple of blocks for the same (if not better) tasting pizza. Plus the $16 bottle of wine is perfect!

    Matt,

My wife and I are new to the blog and wanted to chime in to say we love the pizza, salads, and coffee.

Have you also considered a happy hour past 9 pm? Pizza is a perfect nightcap and the restaurant is within walking distance for most in the highlands.

Can I get a gift certificate–I can’t find any link on this site?

  15. Matt Snook on April 29th, 2008 12:42 pm

Dan and Neda - Hopefully this summer we can do a late evening event. A happy hour event sounds good. It would be great to have a beer or glass of wine out on the patio in the evenings!!

Cheryl - You can purchase gift certificates at World Pies or Nine Bar Espresso.

Thanks for everyone’s comments and suggestions. We will do the best we can to make World Pies and Nine Bar Espresso a great place to visit.

    Matt
