Gated Grand Ridge?
Written by: rebecca and filed Under Blog, Issaquah Highlands |
Rumor has it that Grand Ridge Drive will be a gated neighborhood within our community. I don?t know about you, but this is actually quite upsetting to me. I really enjoy walking throughout our entire neighborhood and enjoy all the beauty it has to offer. Grand Ridge in particular is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the Highlands with all its trees and wildflowers. Grand Ridge also offers access to a wonderful hiking/biking trail that is maintained by the state. This is where I find myself the most upset about the potential for the community to be permanently gated.
My daughter Emily is just under 2 and an avid fan of the outdoors. She loves being in and around nature, but her legs are small and can only take her so far. Having walking access ONLY to the trails in Grand Ridge does not seem like a realistic solution as it really isn’t feasible for her or any of the little ones we have running around the Issaquah Highlands. Should she be prevented from enjoying this wonderful trail simply because we can?t drive to the trail head?
What are your thoughts?

I bike from the Grand Ridge Trail head frequently, and regardless of a gate, will find a way to continue to access it. In regards to another comment. I am amazed PB would do away with the tennis courts. I rarely see them empty.
Karl,
Thanks for your response. We too will continue to find a way to access the trail, we are just disappointed that it will be so much more difficult than it needs to be with a 2 year-old. As for the tennis courts - I am still a little confused by some of the discussion going around. Apparently we are not going to lose existing tennis courts, but are losing proposed future ones. I am still trying to get clarification on that. Thanks again for your input.
