REI Is Coming To Issaquah
Written by: rebecca and filed Under Blog, Issaquah, Issaquah Highlands, Other Development, Retail Development |
It is now official. Today REI announced they are opening a store in Issaquah. The store will be located in the Commons at Issaquah next to the Safeway where the Longs Drugs used to be located.
While I personally feel the Issaquah Highlands Lifestyle Center would have been a better fit for several reasons - easier access to I-90, easier access for Sammamish Plateau residents and potential for a larger store with closer access to trails for testing gear to name a few - I am happy to see that REI is puting a store in a location that is really Washington?s front door to outdoors (in my opinion).
So now that REI is out for the Issaquah Highlands, what outdoor company could possibly be next in the consideration set?

It’s geeky, but what I want is a store that specializes in products for the great indoors. To get decent consumer electronics or computer parts around here always involves a trip to Bellevue (Best Buy, Circuit City, Magnolia AV, Computer Stop, HD NW, etc) or Renton (Fry’s). Costco, Fred Meyer, Staples and Office Depot just don’t cut it for me.
Still, it’s great REI is coming to Issaquah!
Robbie, at the retail forum I went to, they couldn’t name names but I was lead to believe that there just might well be what you are looking for. I will be sure to keep everyone posted as more information becomes available and “official”.

Yeah baby! This is incredible and I’m all for it. Although, I would have loved to see Circuit City take this space I’ll be fairly happy with REI.
I am really excited for the REI to open up as well.
