Have You Had Your Fiber Today?
Written by: rebecca and filed Under Blog, Issaquah Highlands, Other Development |
On July 1st, 2007 Highlands Fiber Network (HFN) will be launching a new level of services for the customers of Issaquah Highlands.
One of the biggest changes is that the HFN has decided to select ISOMEDIA as our vendor of choice for the long term.
“ISOMEDIA will now be empowered through end to end network access to provide high-value customer service to the entire community.”
Plans are already underway for a brand new customer service center located in the Issaquah Highlands.
Some existing service options will be getting an uprgrade.
- A myriad of “always on” connections that are less expensive than DSL or cable services or you can upgrade to an even faster package that is suitable for running an a home business.
- E-mail service with built in spam and virus filters that can accommodate private domain names.
With this change, HFN will now have the capabilty to offer additional services to the residents of Issaquah Highlands:
If we want these service we need to make the demand known. The potential is there. We just need to demonstrate we want it.
Just another great reason to live in the Issaquah Highlands. What other community owns and operates their own technology company.

I’m looking forward to hearing more about their new services.
My experience with HFN & ISOMedia has been great so far.
We already have VoIP via Ecuity and I have IPTV via my Slingbox connected DirecTV DVR. I’ve heard rumors of HFN running a colocation facility. I wish my work internet connection was as good as what I have in the Highlands.
Robbie,
Did you know that Ecuity filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy back in January 5th, 2007?
I find it odd that there was such a big push to get VoIP into the community via Ecuity when this has been a long time coming. They have been in a pretty bad state since 2005. I wonder why HFN didn’t chose another partner to launch with or push ISOMEDIA to get the service out sooner.
Thoughts?
I did not know Ecuity filed for Chapter 11. My phone service with them hasn’t been negatively effected by this. I guess Isomedia will be handling VOIP now or somebody else?
I think the reason why HFN they didn’t launch VOIP with Isomedia is that phone networks are different beasts than computer networks, and Isomedia probably couldn’t deliver the service in a cost effective and profitable manner.
Glad to hear you haven’t been negatively affected by their bankruptcy. I know a bunch of folks that have and are somewhat SOL because Ecuity won’t service them and Qwest or others can’t (or won’t?) port over an inactive number.
FYI, I was caught up in Ecuity. Unfortunately it turned into Chapter 7, and they dropped all service, including incoming calls.
For those of you stuck, AT&T Callvantage (callvantage.att.com) has the ability to port numbers from Ecuity..give them a shot! I just got setup, and am much happier.
